Jaksta is a streaming media recorder and converter, that offers a very convenient way to download media content from popular sites, such as YouTube, Google Video, MetaCafe, Yahoo! Music, and many others. The program has an intuitive interface and supports most of the streaming formats, and also allows you to convert the downloaded files into numerous formats to make them playable on mobile phones, iPods, Zunes, PSP, and other devices. After you have downloaded and installed the program, from a drop-down list you need to select the format into which the downloaded files will be converted. The program will stay in the system tray, and if you click on the pink button it will start monitoring for media content being played in your computer. Then, if you go to YouTube, for example, and play a video, Jaksta will download it automatically, and when the download is complete, it will convert the video to the selected format. So within the container folder you will find both, the downloaded file in its original format, and the converted one.
Using Jaksta, you will no longer need to worry about waiting for the download to complete, and then looking for a video converter to make videos playable on your media devices. Jaksta does it all almost without intervention of the user, which is great. Then, if you want the program to stop monitoring for media content, you will simply need to click on a button.
The program can be used to download and convert unlimited videos from YouTube, but the trial version allows you to download only 50% of the files from other websites.
